He appeared in two games with Minnesota in 2009, went 6-4 with a 2.94 ERA at Triple-A

The Orioles on Monday claimed right-handed pitcher Armando Gabino off waivers from the Minnesota Twins, leaving them with 34 players on their 40-man roster. Gabino, 26, went 6-4 with three saves in a 38 games (seven starts) for Triple-A Rochester in 2009, and had a 17.18 ERA in two appearances for the Twins. He made his major league debut against the Orioles on Aug. 25, allowing four earned runs, five hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings while getting a no decision in the Twins' 7-6 victory. ... Third baseman Melvin Mora was classified as a Type B free agent, but that's essentially a moot point because the Orioles have no interest in offering him arbitration, a necessary step for getting draft-pick compensation for the player. Relievers Danys Baez and Mark Hendrickson, who are free agents after playing for the Orioles last season, didn't get either Type A or Type B classification. -- Jeff Zrebiec
