Some of the more notable draft-eligible wide-outs are (from left) Wisconsin's Nick Toon, Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon and Texas A&M's Jeff Fuller. Toon is a probable mid-round prospect, while Blackmon is the top wide receiver in the draft. Fuller is a big target at 6 feet 4. Ozzie Newsome said recently that the Ravens wanted to address the wide receiver position again this offseason.

Ravens Insider : Joe Linta, the agent for Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, confirmed Wednesday that he and Ravens vice president of football administration Pat Moriarty, the team's salary cap specialist, will begin discussions about a contract extension for the 27-year-old quarterback at next week's NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. Linta said he and Moriarty would have a brief chat over coffee, but it wouldn't be a "Hatfield and a McCoy thing." They will start talking about the framework of a new deal but they aren't expected to exchange salary figures.

Preston: Randy Moss could help the Ravens for a season or two

There is speculation the Ravens have interest in receiver Randy Moss, and I have no problems with the team trying to pursue him as long as they don't mortgage away the future. I can't see the Ravens doing that because that's not general manager Ozzie Newsome's style. Even though Moss has been away from the game for a short time, he's still probably one of the fastest receivers in the league, and all opposing defenses have to respect speed. At the right price, I wouldn't mind seeing him line up opposite Torrey Smith with Anquan Boldin in the slot. The Ravens had similar plans for Lee Evans last year, but he spent most of 2011 on the sideline with a high ankle sprain.

Jonathan Thomas spent his first two years at the University of Maryland consumed by his studies in mechanical engineering. From his current vantage point, Thomas now realizes there was a void. A former basketball star at Tuscarora High, where he was Frederick County's Player of the Year as a senior, Thomas is one of five walk-ons who made the team this season after a series of open tryouts in the fall. "You try to do stuff to get your mind off of not playing, [and] you're busy so you try not to think about it," Thomas said before a recent practice at Comcast Center.
