                        It's been more than 35 years since Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band played in Baltimore, but Friday night's show at the 1st Mariner Arena was well worth the wait.

    <description>Moving to cable, the daytime diva lifts the Maryland-based Discovery Channel into a new league
                        &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;

                    T he news that "The Oprah Winfrey Show" is going to end after 25 years so that its host can devote herself to a new cable channel set off reverberations in TV and financial circles late last week. But nowhere was the effect felt more keenly than in Silver Spring, where the Maryland-based Discovery Communications was vaulted into a new realm of prominence and prestige as the future home of The Oprah Winfrey Network.

    <description>I nterior designer Alisha Pitarra's design sense goes beyond her job at The House Downtown, a home furnishings store in Belvedere Square. The 29-year-old Perry Hall resident loves to decorate herself, as well. "I love to get a little glamorous; mix and match trends with vintage." Pitarra credits her husband, Greg Pitarra, owner of Bruno's Hair Design, with tending to her locks. But she knows how to tend to her frocks, like the cute black number she wore to a My Place Project fundraiser at the store.
